Today was a full day teachers’ meeting. Eleven of us were charged to come to agreement on the syllabus, course requirements and grading system for 5 courses. The old guard was resistant and sometimes insulting. I was exhausted at the end of the day. A Canadian who has been in China for six years befriended me and we left quickly. We have agreed to plan our lessons together. He is a former Lutheran pastor and quite a musician. His attitude lifted my spirits. We will start working up our teaching plan tomorrow.
I got the course outline for the Nokia class today. That begins Thursday evening. Nathan, University of Rochester grad, and I will be doing that class together.
Tonight I went to the Thousand Year bridge and enjoyed the dancing and singing at the park. China remains full of surprises.
